Microsoft and Android VCI Updates
Vendor Class Identifiers (VCIs)
DHCP servers rely on VCIs to provide appropriate network configurations to devices. Recently, Microsoft and Android devices have updated their VCIs.
Microsoft VCI Change
Microsoft has claimed three VCIs, with "MSFT 5 0" being the most commonly used. This VCI is used by Windows devices, including Windows 10. Additionally, some Windows-based devices may now display "MSFT 50" as their VCI.
Android VCI
Android devices use the VCI "dhcpcd-5 5 6." This VCI ensures that Android devices receive the correct network settings.
DHCP Request Vendor Class Identifier Test
If you encounter a failure while performing the DHCP request vendor class identifier test, you may be using unsupported equipment. Ensure that your equipment supports the latest VCI updates for Microsoft and Android devices.
