Marcelo Bielsa has been appointed as the new manager of Uruguay, the Uruguayan Football Association (AUF) has announced. The 68-year-old Argentine coach has signed a contract that will run until the end of the 2024 Copa América, which will be held in the United States.
Bielsa is one of the most respected coaches in world football. He has managed some of the biggest clubs in the world, including Athletic Bilbao, Lazio, and Marseille. He has also had success with national teams, leading Argentina to the Olympic gold medal in 2004 and Chile to the Copa América title in 2015.
